I came home late from work last night, thanks to the inherent need of an IT department to thwart any attempt at productivity (serenity now... serenity now...), with barely enough time to move the car seat from the van to my
The munchkin climbed into the back seat and I
So as we pulled away from the house, I put on the radio. I had a mix CD I had made for myself in the player, and let that play.
"Oh no, Daddy! I forgot my Doodlebops CD in the van!"
"That's OK, we can listen to Daddy music." I skipped to this track.
Open Your Eyes by Guano Apes
A few seconds later, she said, "It's OK that I forgot my CD. I like this CD now. It has some pretty cool songs on it."
She's three, and she used the expression "pretty cool". About Guano Apes. I think that's pretty cool.
In case some of you don't check there often, Mommy Blogs Toronto has become Better Than A Playdate (which isn't anywhere near as funny better than a stick in the eye, but is probably more appealing). There's a new format there as well, with everything going up on the homepage. I am still posting Daditorials over there, and on a regular schedule now too (every other Thursday). My latest is up today: The Working Poor.

What can I say? We have a hip daughter!
Julia prefers to listen to "our" music rather than kids music. Don't get me wrong - she has a little MP3 player full of kids songs and she loves it, but she likes a lot of the stuff we listen to. I've always thought that was totally cool.
I think the munchkin and Julia would get along pretty well. They could rock out together. ;)
I think the girls would approve. That sounds like something they would listen to. I love it when my three year old asks for something completely non-kidish.
For fear of our own sanity, Charlotte only listens to our music. She knows no different, but does prefer Fleetwood Mac over Journey, which I could totally get. ;)
That's very cute.
And if you ever read the book about your brain on music (very cool book) you know she is forming a lifelong emotional imprint of this music. I forget the age that ends at.
But that's reason No. 53 why we listen to mommy music in mommy's car.
I'd rather her emotionally imprint the Mighty Mighty Bosstones than Barney. ;)
Patience won an iPod (NO KIDDING!) and she wrote up a list of songs she wanted on there.
I'm so pleased she's become such a fan of acoustic alternative pop. She's as in love with the late-late Nick Drake as I am.
yep, my kids are *cool* too. They both rock their heads to a variety of tunes in the van and NONE of them are fisher-price or doodlebops!
isabella uses the word cool, too.
not about my music, sadly...
